Essex Art League was formed in 1972 by a group of local artists of varied experience and abilities who desired to share an appreciation of art and foster a close and caring art community. Monthly workshops were established and group shows and trips to various galleries soon followed. The pursuit of many of these goals continues today, with monthly meetings open to anyone interested in the arts. Meetings are held the first Thursday of the month from September through June at the First Congregational Church in Essex Junction, VT from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. The meeting agenda includes a business and social time, and features a guest artist presentation. Some programs are interactive, allowing for spontaneous creativity. Other meetings provide opportunities for members to show and evaluate their work.
