Standing Stone Wines

We stopped by Standing Stone Wines in Winooski for some advice on top summer wines.  Owner, Lilly Sickles points to some fabulous ones and gives us her top 5.  Heading out for a party and need to bring a bottle or can. This is the place that won't break the wallet.

We love drinking all the wine all year round! But this summer, we’re super excited about these beauties! And everyone is $20 or less!

Kalché wines are all natural and delicious! They are also woman, BIPOC and locally owned. One can is 2 glasses or half a bottle and is perfect for packing up for a hike, picnic or the beach. The Bluest is a cold sparkling red and Wilder Piquette was made in cooperation with Wilder Wines. They are true Vermont wines and are beautiful expressions of the grapes and terroir.

Zeit Orange Gruner Veltliner comes from Austria. It’s natural and amazing! Skin contact from white grapes gives it a little orange color, heft, and texture. For an unfiltered and unfined wine, it drinks amazingly clean. You can drink this with your mom and she’ll love it!

If you’re making burgers on the grill, grab a bottle of Villa di Cori Grasparossa Lambrusco! This has gorgeous fruit, just enough silky tannins, and lovely bubbles to cut all the richness! Make sure to serve chilled.

Hobo Wines Folk Machine Parts and Labor is mostly Grenache with a little Syrah, this wine sees whole clusters and carbonic maceration to produce a fresh and lively wine perfect for summer! It would be beautiful with a little chill! Great with food!

Orsola Gavi is gorgeous. Light and fresh, it’s certified biodynamic, vegan, organic, and made with native yeasts. Fresh, fragrant, and lively with beautiful floral notes, it’s a stunner. It will Impress your friends.
